a a FEBRUARY 28, 1985 SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, SHREVEPORT JOURNAL Obituaries Gladys M. Blackwell HAYNESVILLE, LA. Funeral serbe conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday February 28 at First Baptist Church in Haynesville for Mrs. Gladys Melton Blackwell.

Officiating will be the Rev. Louis Coppage, assisted by Dr. Johnny Atkins. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, La. under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Haynesville.

Mrs. Blackwell was born in Blernice, La. on September 14, 1903. She gradufrom Bernice High School Judson College in Marion, Ala. majoring in music.

She did post-graduate work at Louisiana Tech, L.S.U. and Northwestern State. She taught music in the Ruston School District for three years, then moving to Haynesville where she taught for 36 years before retiring in 1963. She was a choir director for many years at the First Baptist Church of Haynesville. She was a member of Louisiana Teachers Association, the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs, the Haynesville Country Club and many other musical organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester R. Blackwell in 1981. Survivors include one brother, Travis E. Melton of Ruston, one niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Neuhalfen of Jefferson City, six nephews, Marion Blackwell of Emerson, Malcolm Blackwell of Texas, Bennie Blackwell of Albuquerque, N.M., James Robert Blackwell Lafayette, William J.

Melton Memphis, Travis of E. Melton, Jr. of Torrance, Calif. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Music Department of First Baptist Church in Haynesville, La. or to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Effie Wiley BOSSIER CITY, LA. Services for Mrs. Mary Effie Wiley, 93, of Bossier City, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday February 28, 1985, at the Bayou Scie Methodist Church near Many, La. The Rev.

Jack Gandy and the Rev. George McVay will officiate. Burial will be at Bayou Scie Cemetery. Plans are under the direction WarrenMeadows Funeral Home of Many, La. Mrs.

Wiley died Tuesday February 26, 1985, at the Bossier Medical Health Care Nursing after a long illness. She is survived by five sons, V.P. Wiley and Arvis L. Wiley, of Jamestown, Kenneth R. Wiley, Orlan D.

Wiley and J.V. Wiley, of Terrell, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Mooney of Marshall, Texas and Mrs. Ida Barr of Zwolle, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Van Wiley, Gary Wiley, Russ Wiley, Larry Wiley, Perry Norcross, Aubrey Norcross and Lance Holmes.

Bernice Elizabeth Barker SHREVEPORT Memorial Ser- vices will be held for Mrs. Bernice Elizabeth Barker, 77, of Shreveport at the Frost Chapel of First Baptist with the O. Pugh officiating. Church, at 2p.m. Friday March 1, 1985 She had donated her body to the LSU Medical Center.

Mrs. Barker died. Saturday, February 23, 1985, at at the Nurse Care of Shreveport after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Eleanor Souter; a niece, Mrs.

Henry V. (Barbara) Delony of Shreveport; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Claudia G. Smith; a newphew; Ralph L. Smith; nieces, Mrs.

Earl Mackey, Mrs. Al Uhlenhoff, Mrs. William Heathcott and Mrs. Nancy Hykonen, all of Houston. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Mary Lou Cardwell HOMER, LA. Services for Mrs. Mary Lou Cardwell, 79, of Homer, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday March 1 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer. The Rev.

Terral Lowe will officiate. Burial will be at Tulip Cemetery in Athens, La. Mrs. Cardwell, a retired nurse, died Tuesday February 26, 1985, at the Minden Medical Center after a long illness. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer.

She is survived by one son, Vernon M. Cardwell of Seguin, Texas, one sister, Estelle McBride of Athens, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mercedes P. Pasquier SHREVEPORT Services for Mrs. Mercedes P.

Pasquier, 94, widow of Claude M. Pasquier, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday March 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev.

Murray Clayton and the Rev. Richard Lomwill officiate. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Rosary: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Pasquier died late Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 1985. She was a native of New Orleans and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1920. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Claude M.

Pasquier, Jr. and Charles F. Pasquier, of Shreveport, Laurence P. Pasquier of Oakridge, one daughter, Mrs. Raymond J.

Staffa of Richmond, Texas; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charles F. Pasquier, Claude M. Pasquier 111, Michael P. Pasquier, Farrell J.

Sepulvado, an electrician with Camus Electric Company, was born in Zwolle, La. and had been a resident of Bossier City for the past 17 years. He a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a member the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 194.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Taylor Sepulvado; one son, Robbie Sepulvado of Bossier City; two daughters, Kathy Sepulvado of Bossier City, Karen Talley of Emerson, one sister, Emily Remedies of Benton, three brothers, Herman Sepulvado of Pleasant Hill, Ralph Sepulvado of Augusta, Howard Sepulvado of Montgomery, one granddaughter, Kristie Talley. Bruce, Sr. SHREVEPORT Services for Mrs. J. W. Bruce, 77, of Shreveport, will be held at 1 p.m.

Saturday March Rose- Southside Chapel. Dr. "Step" Martin, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial: Centuries Memorial Park. Mrs.

Bruce died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday February 27, 1985, after a short illness. She was born in Long Island, N. Y. and had been a resident of Shreveport most of her life.

Mrs. Bruce was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for 40 years. She is survived by one son, William Bruce, two daughters, Martha Addison and Marion Kierbow, and one sister, Edna Cobb, all of Shreveport; ten grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gary Addison, Walter Bruce, Mark Prunty, Mark Sandefur, Dan Parker, Bill Oxley and LeBlanc. William John White, Jr.

GRAND CANE, LA. Services for Mr. William John White, 48, of Grand Cane, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday March 1 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. The Rev.

Francis Kelly, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. White, a native and former resident of Shreveport, died Wednesday February 27, 1985, in Grand Cane after a lengthy illness. Mr.

White was a Quarter Horse breeder for 30 years. He is survived his father, W.J. White, of Shreveport; his mother and step-father, Margaret and J.B. Rawls of Logansport, one daughter, Terri Renee Barnett of Shreveport; one sister, Judy Prine of Keithville, three brothers, J.L. White of Melville, Richard White of Shreveport, Jim Rawls of Bossier City; numerous nieces and nephews.

Air Corp during World War 11. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Britt, three sons, Michael Britt, Sammy Ladatto and Donnie Ladatto, one daughter, Lisa Britt of Shreveport; one brother, Z.W. Britt Shreveport; one sister, Blanche Williams of Bossier City; eight grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tony Ladatto, Steve Ladatto, R.M.

Mrs. Nesbit died Tuesday Feb. 26, 1985, in Shreveport after a long illness. She was a native of White, Ark. and had been resident of Springhill for 35 years.

Mrs. Nesbit, a housewife, was a former employee of International Paper Co. with 15 service. Mrs. Nesbit was preceded in death by a son, Shelton H.

Nesbit, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Shelton H. Nesbit, Sr. of Springhill; one daughter, Patricia Burns of Allen, Texas; two sons, Raymond L. Nesbit of Lee Summit, Mo.

and Richard E. Nesbit of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Grace Denmon of Jefferson, Texas; three brothers, James L. Harper of Keithville, Homer L. Harper of Seneca, S.C. and Edwin Harper of Bastrop, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughters.

Myrtle Rambin Smith SHREVEPORT Services for Mrs. Myrtle Rambin Smith, 69, of Shreveport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 1 at the Daughters of the Cross Convent in Shreveport. Father Leger Tremblay, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at St.

Ann Cemetery in Stonewall, La. Plans are under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield, La. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Drewett Memorial Chapel in Mansfield with Father Bernard Zagst officiating. Mrs.
