Timet Natchitoches Bureau NATCHITOCHES A Robeline man was being held without bond Sunday afternoon in the Natchitoches Parish Jail on a charge of second-degree murder stemming from a Saturday night shooting. James Carter was being held in the shooting death of Kenneth Reliford of Robeline.

No age was available for either man. The shooting occurred at about 6:36 pm. Saturday across the street from Robeline High School, said Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Department dispatcher. Neither man was connected with the school, the spokesman said. Few other details about the shooting were available Sunday.

Robeline is located about IS miles west of Natchitoches in Natchitoches Parish. Blaze damages vacant residence A vacant house was heavily damaged early Sunday morning in a blaie that kept Shreveport firefighters busy for about 2 hours. Assistant Fire Chief B.F. Horton said the fire started in the southeast corner of the two-story wood-frame house at 207 E. 75th SL about 2:38 a.m.

Sunday. "We really don't know what sUrted it," be said, adding that the house was without utilities. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Peven-tion. He is survived bv his wife, Mrs. J.W. Arrington of Shreveport; one daughter, Cotherine Ellis of Shreveport; one son, Louis G. Arrington of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Cody, Hardy, and Jack Arrington, all of Colfax; one sister, Oma Campbell of Lake Charles, La. six grandchildren 11 great grondchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

"I had to have something done," he said. "I couldn't go on the way I was. "Now I'm doing pretty well. I haven't had all the stitches out yet, but I can see better even with the stitches in," he said. And he's been told he has a good chance of having good vision once the eye is completely healed.

The donation of organs is a wonderful thing, he said. "If I were a young man, that's what I'd do to give someone else the benefit (of my healthy organs)." Vera Shute Lake SHREVEPORT Graveside services for Mrs. Vera Shute Lake, 69, of Shreveport will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. The Rev.

J. Frederick Patten will officiate. She died suddenly at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 1985, at hospital.

Mrs. Lake, a resident of Shreveport since 1936 was born in Opelousas, La. on Nov. 29, 1916. She was married to the late Charles Raymond Lake who was a native of Greenville, Miss.

In 1936, Mrs. Lake received her B.A. degree from Centenary Col lege where she served as president of Chi Omega Sorority and Pan Hellenic. Her many civic and cultural activities included service on the Girl Scout Pelican Council Board and membership in the Junior League of Shreveport. She was affiliated with St.

Mark's Episcopal Church. As a member of the Shreveport Country Club, she won the Ladies Golf Championship on more than one occasion. She participated actively in the local A.C.B.L. Bridge Unit and achieved life mastership. She is survived bv one son, Dr.

C. Raymond Lake, Jr. of Bethesda, Md. two grandddaughters, Regan Anne Lake and Craig Anne Lake, both of Bethesda; one sister, Mrs. Vance Miles of Tuscaloosa, and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Evans HOMER Services for Mr. Larry Evans, 71, of Homer, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Rose-Neath Chapel in Homer. Dr.

D. Glenn Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Mr. Evans, a retired oil field worker with Keene's Casing Crew, died at Saturday, Sept.

28, 1985. in Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy ilness. He was a member of the Homer First Baptist Church. He is survived bv his wife, Mary Catherine Evans of Homer; one son, Dannv Larry Evans of Homer; four daughters, Wanda Ambrose of Bossier Citv, Diane Wilson of Atlanta, Judy White, and Susan Pepper, both of Homer; four sisters, Helen Williams of Junction City, Maurice Gray of Havnesville.
