and Mrs. James Adams, will be at 12 noon Thursday in the Mount Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Elzine Strong officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Oakley Metcalf Funeral Home. The infant died Tuesday in Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Sparks was a local insurance executive and a former president of the Deep East Texas Development Association. Artie Thompson LUFKIN, Tex. Funeral services for Artie Thompson, 60, of Lufkin will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ryans Chapel with the Rev.

Walter Sherry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson died Tuesday in a Houston hospital. Survivors include his widow; two sisters, Mrs.

Reedna Parish and Mrs. Lela" Beasley, both of Diboll. William Faulk CENTER, Tex. William C. Faulk, 82, died Tuesday in a Center hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mangum Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. J. T. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Survivors include one Mrs. Elnora Desideir of Min-den and Mrs. Ola Dean of Golbert, and one grandson. Mrs.

Paul Wells JONESBORO Mrs. Paul Wells, 61, of Jonesboro died Tuesday in a Ruston hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Full Gospel Temple Church with the Rev. Herbert Hilton officiating, assisted by the Rev.

Otis Knapp. Burial will be in the Edmonds-Traina Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Linna Jane Walker of Jonesboro; one brother, Alvin Pullig of Ashland; two sisters, Mrs. Mackie Knott of Martin and Mrs.

Epsie Barron of Ashland; and two grandchildren. James Speir CHESTNUT James C. Speir, 79, of Chestnut died Wednesday in a Quitman nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Strange Methodist Church with Readhimer with the Rev.

J. W. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow; one son, Earl Lee Speir of Saline; three daughters, Mrs.

B. C. Garriss MINDEN Boyd Carol Garriss, 75, died Monday in a Min-den hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.

Paul Cassell officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memory Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, B. C. Garriss of Texas City, and William R.

Garriss of Selma, one daughter, Mrs. Joy Faye Connell of Pasadena; one brother, A. E. Garriss of Winnfield; nine granchildren and one greatgrandchild; and a number of nieces arid nephews. He was a retired carpenter and member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Sidney Collum COUSHATTA Sidney Alford Collum, 77, died Wednesday in a Coushatta hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Bethany Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Norene Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home.

Grace Spain of Blanchard; nine grandchildren and four great -grandchildren. Mrs. Emma Burns Graveside services for Mrs. Emma A. Burns, 82, a Denver, resident who formerly lived in Shreveport, will be held today at 2 p.m.

in Forest Park Cemetery. Mrs. Burns resided in Shreveport for 25 years and was an employe of the United Gas Co. A native of Washington, she moved to Denver 10 years ago. The Rev.

George Hamilton, S.J., of St. John's Catholic Church, will officiate and local arrangements are being handled by Osborn's Funeral Home. Mrs. Burns is survived by a niece, Mrs. Eloise Fitzpatrick of Denver and a nephew, Walter G.

Fitzpatrick Jr. of Denver. Charles Pieters Charles E. Pieters, 81, of 4215 Greenwood Road, died Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Ostende, Belgium, Mr. Pieters had lived in Shreveport since 1927 and was a retired electrician. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lowe McFarlane Post of the American Legion and was a Catholic. Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Wellman's Funeral Home with the Rev.

Gerard Foley, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Pieters is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Pieters; two daughters, Mrs.

Grace Walker of Shreveport and Mrs. Aline Smith of San Antonio, one grandchild and seven great -grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W. L. Walker, Howard Smith, Boss Green, O.

Phillips, 71, of 2813 Voss Ave. will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Fisher, pastor of Westview Christian Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Forest Park West Mr. Phillips died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday in the Willis -Knighton Hospital after a long illness. A native of Pensacola, he had resided in Shreveport for 30 years. He was a retired painting contractor and a member of the Westview Christian Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Phillips; one son, Roland G. Phillips of Shreveport; three daughters, Mrs. Eddie Lynch of Mansfield, Mrs. Charles Thompson of Shreveport and Mrs.

Cason was a retired farmer and employe of International Paper Co. and a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Lites, a former music director for several Shreveport churches, was born in Fort Jessup and had lived in Hall Summit for the past 12 years. He was once superintendent of Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church and had a music degree from Baptist Bible Institute in New Orleans.

Survivors include his widow; two brothers, Ray Lites and Leslie Lites, both of Many; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Dees of Shreveport and Mrs. Vara McWherter of New Orleans; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Noble Golson, Grady Hall, H. G.
