Keel died Tuesday at 11:50 p.m. at Willis Knighton Hospital after a long illness. She was a member of the Blanchard Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star and was active in home demonstration work. Fitzpatrick Jr. of Denver. Charles Pieters Charles E. Pieters, 81, of 4215 Greenwood Road, died Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Ostende, Belgium, Mr. Pieters had lived in Shreveport since 1927 and was a retired electrician. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lowe McFarlane Post of the American Legion and was a Catholic. Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Wellman's Funeral Home with the Rev.

Gerard Foley, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Pieters is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Pieters; two daughters, Mrs.

Grace Walker of Shreveport and Mrs. Aline Smith of San Antonio, one grandchild and siven great -grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W. L. Walker, Howard Smith, Boss Green, O.

Phillips, 71, of 2813 Voss Ave. will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Fisher, pastor of Westview Christian Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Forest Park West C6ni6tcry Mr. Phillips died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday in the Willis -Knighton Hospital after a long illness. A native of Pensacola, he had resided in Shreveport for 30 years. He was a retired painting contractor and a member of the Westview Christian Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Phillips; one son, Roland G. Phillips of Shreveport; three daughters, Mrs. Eddie Lynch of Mansfield, Mrs. Charles Thompson of Shreveport and Mrs.

OUT! iY 11 I mr VH i NATCHITOCHES Northwestern State University student Grayson Harper, a senior art major from Fort Worth, was awarded a first place tie in dramatic interpretation last weekend at the first annual Alvin W. Barkley Forensic Tournament at Murray State University in Murray, Ky. Competing for the NSU forensic team, Harper shared the individual events title with Lisa Grieble of Millikin University from Decatur, 111.

Harper, who is an accomplished actor, gave a dramatic interpretation of the scene from "Hamlet" where the ghost of Hamlet and the father of Hamlet meet. Northwestern was one of more than 20 colleges and universities entered in the tournament. Other states represented in the event in addition to Louisiana were Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina and Ohio. Other Northwestern students competing in the tournament were Gene Kane, New Iberia; Marsha Benjamin, Gloster; Tina Pounds, Bossier City; David Riggins, Vinton; David Burroughs, Minden; Mary Rounds, Bossier City; Daisy Summers Johnson, Mansfield, and Ronnie Perault, Shreveport. Members of the Northwestern forensics team competed in prose and poetry interpretation, duet acting, persuasive and extemporaneous speaking and dramatic interpretation.

The tournament was the first of the spring semester for the Northwestern team, which will enter one other tournament in addition to sponsoring its own high school and college competition this spring. Tech Team Wins Three Trophies RUSTON Louisiana Tech's forensics squad has won three trophies and high ratings in the university division of the Pearl River, Mississippi College Tournament. The squad won second place in overall sweepstakes points and tied for second place in senior division debate. In the two individual events contests, first place and a superior rating in senior division oral interpretation were won by Riley Wright of Haughton. Gary Cathey of Minden won second place and a superior rating in senior division original oratory.

Chad Blankenship of Ruston won fourth place and a superior rating in original oratory. Cathey won superior and was a finalist in oral interpretation. Other high ratings were won by Celia Tucker of Alexandria, Gerald Page of Lake Charles, and Chad Blankenship of Ruston. In debate, four-member teams rather than the usual two-member teams were com peting, and the cooperative effort netted the squad second place in the university division. Barnhill of Montreal, Canada; and two sisters, Mrs. Iris Pond and Mrs. Beulah Pridgen, both of Shreveport. Romie Cason Romie Harris Cason, 84, a lifetime resident of Bossier Parish, died Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Community Hospital in SpringhiU after a lengthy illness.

The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Cason officiating. The Rev. Vernon Collins, will assist.

Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Mr. Cason was a retired farmer and employe of International Paper Co. and a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs.

Arnold Vaughan of Plain Dealing; two sisters, Mary Lou Norris and Ophelia Matlock, both of Plain Dealing; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Edwin O. Lites Funeral services for Edwin 0. Lites, 84, of Hall Summit, a former Shreveport resident, who died Tuesday at his home, will be at 2:30 p.m. today in SpringhiU Baptist Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. John Alexander and the Rev. Lovelle Kennedy. Burial will be in Coushatta under direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Mr.

Lites, a former music director for several Shreveport churches, was born in Fort Jessup and had lived in Hall Summit for the past 12 years. He was once superintendent of Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church and had a music degree from Baptist Bible Institute in New Orleans. Survivors include his widow; two brothers, Ray Lites and Leslie Lites, both of Many; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Dees of Shreveport and Mrs. Vara McWherter of New Orleans; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Noble Golson, Grady Hall, H. G. Boies, Duane Lee, Larry Wimberly, Carey Wilson, Ruf-fin Wilson and Larry Shaw. Henry Lucien Services for Henry P. Lucien, 86, of 1240 Oakland St.

Lucien, a retired Kansas City Southern Railway employe, died about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. He retired from KCS in 1959 after 49 years service. He was also a deacon at Evergreen Baptist Church, a member of the Carver Branch YMCA and a Mason. Survivors include his widow, Mrs.
