IfMUMB Harlan Whatley David Wasner 2 scouts receive Eagle ranks Dr. Henry G. Hanley has assumed roles as chief of the cardiology section at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and professor and chief of the cardiology section at LSU Medical Center. Hanley, a Harvard University graduate with a medical degree from Yale University's School of Medicine, came here from the University of Kentucky's School of Medicine and the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was associate professor of medicine at the medical school and chief of the cardiology section at the VA hospital there.

Hanley has done research at Emory University, Yale University School of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He was an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute while at Baylor. Here, he will continue his research on cardiac wall motion abnormalities that occur during myocardial ischemia when the heart is not getting enough blood to meet its needs. His particular interest in clinical work is cardiac catheterization, a technique whereby the condition of the heart can be assessed before surgery takes place. He has 11 years of experience in this technique.

Hanley's internship and part of his residency in medicine was at Boston City Hospital, Boston University Medical Services, in Boston, Mass. He finished his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, and was a fellow in cardiology there from 1969 to 1971. LIONS South Shreveport City Council member John Scotto will speak to the West Shreveport Lions Club at noon today at the Riverboat Inn. Scotto will speak about the May 17 collective bargaining election. and the first United Methodist Church.Bill Hogg is his scoutmaster.

Wasner, 13, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Wasner, of 1507 Holiday Place. He was presented his award May 8.

He is a seventh grade student at Elm Grove Junior High School and is a member of Troop 75, his father is scoutmaster. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and the First Two area boy scouts were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in recent ceremonies. The new Eagles are Harlan Douglas Whatley of Shreveport and David Wasner of Bossier City. Whatley, 15, is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Stanford B. Whatley of 645 Slattery Blvd. He was presented his award April 29. He is a student at Jesuit High School where he is in the 10th grade. Hitt has been with the LSU system since 1941. He is a native of Comanche, Texas, and has been chief administrative officer of the New Orleans university since its founding in 1958. Gour of Shreveport has been named editor of the "Daily Reveille," the Louisiana State University student newspaper, for the summer term.
