A total of 12 alleys are available for merce, agriculture, and the trades. The Cunningham Machinery corporation, Shreveport, recently took on the Goodyear line of belting and hose selling 36 endless Goodyear belts during the past three weeks, this, being somewhat of a record. The Goodyear line of belting and hose has long been recognized as the leader In the transmission field-more drives are pulled by Goodyear belts, more materials are carried by Goodyear conveyor belt, more liquids are carried through Goodyear hose, than any other on today's market. Goodyear and Cunningham feel that a well designed Installation fitted with the proper type and size of belting provides an economical and trouble-free method of transmitting power or transporting material.

Some of the difficulties experienced with other types of drives are eliminated by the use of belts. Belts do not transmit shock and they frequently serve as an automatic means of emergency protection against extreme overload. Elevating and conveying materials with rubber belting is usually the most economical method of material handling. Goodyear has cerried on a great deal of research In all types of belting, with the viewpoint of the user of the belt and for that reason has not confined the work to testing of one or two phases of the problem. The user obviously desires a belt that will carry the load with the least possible attention and one that will operate satisfactorily for a long enough period to give the lowest possible cost per unit of service.

The reputation of the Goodyear Compass Cord belt for solving problems of troublesome belt drives has carried it into practically every In dustry. Belt-eating drives In textile plants, in sawmills, on air compres sors, vacuum pumps, ice machines, and other extremely hard drives. Goodyear does not look for the "snap Jobs," they look for the hard ones where others failed, knowing that a well engineered belt will give the performance desired. The Compass Cord has won Its recognition by per formance accomplished by no other belt, It is practically stretchless, genuinely endless, 25 per cent thinner than other belts of equal power ca paclty, and more flexible than any other belt.

Compass conforms readi ly to small pulleys, It Is sufficiently elastic for shock loads, and Is safeguarded from internal wear. Ply separation cannot occur. The Goodyear "5-R" square edge belt, a recent Goodyear development, la especially constructed ta provide an unusually high co-efficient of friction between the pulley surface and the belt. Its tenacious pulley gripping power is exceeded by no other type of flat belt, The "5-R" belt Is made of 33-ounce sliver duck, ktm coated between pill's and high est grade friction being the belt for heavy-duty drives. The Goodyear Thor seamless belt provides all the advantages of "raw edge" belt, plus edges protected by an endless and seamless envelope.

The envelope encloses the plies and forms a part of the ply structure of the belt. It is highest grade friction end skim coat, 33-ounce silver duck construction. The Goodyear "Wlngfoot" belt is a folded edge constructed belt of high-quality, friction surface, and is the only belt In that price field having skim coat between plies, adding extra strength and flexibility which guarantee longer belt life.
